Re: [CanineCancer] HELP!!! Anyone using homeopathy???

Hi Carla - I don't have a great deal of experience with homeopathy, though many years ago my holistic vet at the time used it extensively in his practice. He was an amazing vet and did some marvelous things for my dogs. Homeopathy is a strange beast and no matter how many times it has been explained to me, I still don't get it!

That said... I do believe it works - have used Arnica for years (used for muscle soreness among other things), back in the day when I was doing long distance cycling. I've used Arnica for my dogs over the years as well after agility - and before and after surgery as it is supposed to help in the healing process. I have dabbled in it myself a bit, doing a little research for things. Currently neither of the holistic vets I'm using are specialists in the area (both are more inclined to go to Chinese med and immune boosting supplements/diet).
I haven't seen it used in treating cancer - though the right doc would most likely have some evidence to show its effectiveness in treating certain cancers.

I think that's the key - it is a very specific area of study. Make sure your vet knows what he's doing and has been trained in the field of homeopathic medicine with a specialty in cancer treatment. It is a very complicated process. The holistic vet I used years ago would spend hours/days coming up with the right remedies and doses.

Talk to your vet about your concerns. If your gut says you don't trust what's being done - or you feel you need a second opinion - then go for it. Many holistic vets will schedule phone consults as well if that helps. I know how tough it is to know if what we're doing is right. I've struggled with it myself with Patrick... all the time! I keep thinking I must be missing something, should be adding something, or whatever. Someone recently told me that I wasn't giving nearly enough CoQ10 and that I was wasting my money. I decided to trust my holistic vet and her years of experience in fighting cancer and hope for the best.

Keep us posted... and hugs to Ty!
