My experience supports what Susi has said. Tucker has been to two different oncologists and a dermatalogical specialist since her initial dx and surgeries, Her current oncologist is a mast cell specialist and all have been consistent in saying that antihistamines and antacids help with the side effects of histamine secretion by mast cells, but do not prevent them from forming. Also Tucker has been on both an antihistamine (Hydroxazine HCL) and Pepcid for over a year now and sadly she just had a recurrence of MCT's. I had kept her on the meds in hopes that it might be preventative (as someone outside the medical profession had once suggested that) but unfortunately, cancer is not that easily tamed...
