Well, Zoe's fentonyl patch wore off after 5 days and she is in extreme discomfort from her surgery. Doubled up on Tramadol this morning after watching her for several hours go out of her mind twirling in circles and salivating profusely. She was beside herself - sleeping now. I changed her over to a soft sided ecollar which has made some difference but she still doesn't like it. It's not as long as the one she was sent home with so the end of her nose is exposed and when she went out this morning began rubbing her snout and nose on the grass and started bleeding. She didn't break open any sutures - I think because her whole face is shaved, she is just very sensitive with no protection on her skin so it breaks open easily.
I spoke again with the chemo oncologist yesterday and he is still recommending moving forward with the adriamyacin protocol and wants to start in one week. This would mean starting chemo only two weeks post surgery and very invasive surgery at that. I have reached out to Dr. Anne Jeglum in PA for a phone consultation as I hear she is one of the best oncologists in the tri-state area. I live in NJ and although she is located only about 1.5 hours away, I don't feel Zoe can travel at this juncture. My understanding is that she does not conduct phone consults but I am begging her to make an exception as she has all of the documents needed to do so. Wish me luck.
Wishing a peaceful weekend to all and your furbabies.
