[CanineCancer] Q From Newer Member/Update on Meeve

Erin,
I just read your message and what is going on with your dear Meeve. I remember well waiting to hear the diagnosis this past March of a MCT tumor my Evie had removed. I was apprehensive like you waiting to get the results. It is nerve-wracking to say the least. I got the results several days later of a Gr.2 MCT, and my vet said she got clean margins and all of the tumor when she did the surgery.
I would most definitely go to an oncologist for further treatment, etc. as they specialize in Oncology. That is their chosen specialty and they are skilled in it. Your regular vet is in a different medical area, more like a general practitioner.
I checked out that vet. specialty hospital's website you had in your message. I also decided to check out the website of Purdue Univ. Veterinary Medical School and their info. about their small animal practice, also the Oncology specialty area they have. They have 2 good oncologists there as I read their credentials online. The specialty hospital in Indianapolis does have the patient's vet basically supervise what will be done to the pet as far as treatment goes. That is unusual to me as I have never heard of this done before. I come from a big city with specialty vets in the area & many small animal hospitals, too. I have used specialty hospitals in the past there with no such arrangement.
Your Meeve will be in my prayers, and you, also, Erin.
Judye & my dear Evie (dxGr.2MCT 2/10)
