Cara; Hi, so sorry about Boots! I have a yellow lab, Bubby, who has a tumor, that they are saying is a melanoma.. I so relate to your stress on this awful situation, I am doing everything possible to help my sweet Bubby, and make him live longer.. I have been in touch with a holistic vet, I had a consult on the phone this morning, and he is in favor of the raw diet.. (Just not raw ground meat, only because of the contamination possibility) Now, my vet, the holistic one, says to avoid the root veggies, they have the most sugar in them. But, all green veggies, and cabbage is good.. all raw.. I spend a few hours a week mixing meat, and shredding veggies and some fruit.. (I use apples in the mix, and toss him blueberries when I can find them on sale) The main meat I use is cheap steak, and stew meat, all raw.. he loves it.. I also grow my own sprouts, mung, alfalfa, and broccoli sprouts, and put them in the mix.. I also put a cup of cottage cheese or plain yogurt in the mix.. and a raw egg.. but, that is to four pounds of meat.. this is his meal in the morning, and in the evening, I give him a can of salmon.. he is in heaven.. I am also the crazy lady with all the blankets and pillows in the house all over the floor, for Bubby's comfort.. And each time I move to another room, I have to move the blankets and pillows too! (I have two other labs in the house, so I have to make a bed for them all!) So, I will vacuum, and then lay out the blankets and pillows, and so much for my house looking clean! I have started Bubby on a supplement, poly-mva, which I think is pallidium.. he is doing well, and I will be keeping everyone informed on how he is doing. I hope that Boots does well, and lives a long time.. I just don't understand why we get these fabulous babies and then they are taken away from us.. My Bubby is sweeter then my kids! My husband and I went out shopping today, and took Bubby with us, he was SO thrilled to get in the car with us.. we don't leave him alone in the car, one of us will sit with him.. It makes Bubby's day and mine to go for a ride in the car together..
