Thanks for the much needed pep talk! It seems when the decisions aren't completely clear, I do a whack load of research to make sure we're not screwing up somehow... (like who out there has administered pred while on the melanoma vaccine? seems kind of counterintuitive!)
That is wonderful news about Molly - I've sent her mom a note. Michie and Slinky are thought to be mother/son or sister/brother/ I think the latter but from two different dads. They were initially a 3 pack that appeared on my doorstep! We only suspected the insulinoma because of Michie's diagnosis and her lower than normal blood glucose levels, so it was an incidental finding based on bloodwork... I have read that metastatic melanoma can also cause hypoglycemia, but I don't think it does that by increasing insulin... so it is suspicious what is exactly doing what here.
Aside from Michie, who is tolerating the pred but is completely obsessed with food, we had Laci on a chemo dose of pred in his final months. Those side effects were very tough. And he kept losing weight, which is probably the opposite of how Slinky will respond...she's already gone up a pound or two this winter.
